One of the most principled, ethical men I've ever known, he was the finest teacher I've ever had and later became my mentor and friend. Soak up everything you can possibly learn, and then some. If an idea or concept or a maybe even a whole subject seems to be total nonsense today, take it and tuck it somewhere in the back of your mind anyway as you might have use for it someday. He constantly reminded us never to just memorize material but to take the extra time to learn it through and through. Remember that whatever you learn over the next 4 years (and they'll seem to fly by) has to serve you for at least 40 more years. He also told us not to have a job outside of school because school is a full time job in itself. That's the kind of stuff I wish I'd done alot more of when I was in school! I worked like a maniac (nights, weekends, etc.) to help pay my way through so I didn't have much free time. While popularity is a factor to some, most people have stopped caring about what their classmates think of them. It's a friendlier environment for the most part. Also, my studies interest me. Also, at my school I'm lucky enough to have amazing professors, several of whom I have had conversations outside of class with about things like my spiritual life. And they all know me by name. It's great to have that kind of relationship with your teachers. Furthermore, I party, but I have a respectable GPA (I don't attend a particularly easy school), and I consider myself literate. The important thing is balancing your time. So I think noadvertising over there needs to stop being so judgmental. Knowing someone parties tells you nothing. I've found that being open-minded and not passing judgement on people allows me to see people from a different perspective. I like it. Anyone who has been through four or more legitimate years of college should at least be able to spell and capitalize.
